Recently one of my sisters snapped me a picture of herself in this black face mask & asked me if I'd ever tried it! I automatically assumed it was something she found at the store, so I asked her what brand it was, etc. She told me she made it herself & it consisted of charcoal and glue! Who doesn't love a good face mask? This method seemed to be cheap & effective so I was all the way in! You can find Activated Charcoal where vitamins & supplements are found in stores (although they're always sold out in my area) in the form of a capsule. I haven't found the powder form in stores yet, but of course everything is available online! For the same jar I used, containing 1.2 ounce, it can be purchased on Amazon for less than $10.
WHAT IT DOES
Activated Charcoal can be used for a number of things in your beauty routine, as well as a household item, such as teeth whitening, facial masks, gas issues, or to deter small insects & spiders, etc. It's relatively affordable & a little goes a LONG way...
The reason behind using Activated Charcoal for face masks is because it unclogs pores, helping rid them of dirt, oil & other impurities. This is a great mask to minimize pores or to combat acne. You only use a small amount of powder each time, but it adsorbs (you read that right) a thousand times it's own mass getting rid of all the bad stuff...
Back in August of 2012 my husband & late father-in-law made me a custom nail polish rack. My nail polish collection was slowly growing & I was running out of space. It was all jumbled in drawers & I never knew what I had because they were all hidden. I considered buying one or two of those plastic racks they sell online, but I knew I needed more space than one of those would hold & I wanted something for a specific space in my (at the time) makeup room.
I measured the space, came up with the dimensions & took my husband to the hardware store. They were the ones who brought my ideas to life! It was perfect at the time & still is now! It's moved location a couple of times, but I'll always hold onto it! Not only does it mean a lot to me but it's so useful and beautiful!
A lot of you know my obsession for liquid lipsticks is growing! It seems like every. single. time. I do my makeup that's all I grab for. If it's long-lasting, matte & doesn't transfer, I want it!
Although liquid lipsticks are very easy to wear, because they usually stay put, they can be drying. In order to get the best results, it's imperative to exfoliate and moisturize your lips!
Exfoliating your lips helps to treat & prevent chapped lips, it also helps your lips maintain their moisture. A lot of time we get chapped or dry lips and throw on products wondering why they're not working how we want them to... You have to rid your lips of the dead skin first.
So today I want to share with you my DIY Lip Scrub recipe, it smells so good & works wonders. The scent reminds me of Cinnamon Toast, which I used to love having when I was a kid... Don't you just love how certain scents can take you back in time? You will probably already have all the ingredients and tools needed in your kitchen, as they're all pretty common & can be substituted if need be.
Cleaning your makeup brushes is very important! Not only does your makeup apply much nicer with clean tools, but it helps prevent breakouts & gets rid of bacteria that can grow inside of your brushes over time. I've used many different methods over the years, bought brush cleaner, made my own, but I find this DIY method is the easiest & fastest, plus you probably have everything you need laying around your house. Cleaning them is fairly easy, although can be time consuming depending on how many brushes you need to clean, but I have a few tips to help the process go along a little faster & more efficiently.
