A lot of you know my obsession for liquid lipsticks is growing! It seems like every. single. time. I do my makeup that's all I grab for. If it's long-lasting, matte & doesn't transfer, I want it!
Although liquid lipsticks are very easy to wear, because they usually stay put, they can be drying. In order to get the best results, it's imperative to exfoliate and moisturize your lips!
Exfoliating your lips helps to treat & prevent chapped lips, it also helps your lips maintain their moisture. A lot of time we get chapped or dry lips and throw on products wondering why they're not working how we want them to... You have to rid your lips of the dead skin first.
So today I want to share with you my DIY Lip Scrub recipe, it smells so good & works wonders. The scent reminds me of Cinnamon Toast, which I used to love having when I was a kid... Don't you just love how certain scents can take you back in time? You will probably already have all the ingredients and tools needed in your kitchen, as they're all pretty common & can be substituted if need be.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
White granulated sugar
Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (or EVOO)
Measuring Spoons (1/2 tsp & 1 tbsp)
Container w/an airtight lid
Something to stir
I used the smallest mason jar I could find, the importance of using a container with an airtight lid is because you don't want your mixture to spoil right away. Your DIY lip scrub will expire, so keep that in mind. You'd be better off making small batches for yourself, unless you'd like to make a big batch and give individual scrubs away as gifts or favors! That'd be a great idea for bridesmaids, girl's night in, home-spa day, etc. Walmart (and I'm sure other stores) sell tiny plastic containers in the travel section that'd be perfect for storing your lip scrub.
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
Equal parts Coconut Oil & Sugar (I used 3 tbsp of each)
Once you have all your ingredients in a jar or bowl, stir it well. You'll be able to tell when it's stirred properly, because the coloring will be even throughout. I used a small applicator that I have on hand for waxing (they're like small Popsicle sticks) until it seemed like it was mixed well. A spoon will do the job, but has a harder time getting into the corners, depending on what you're mixing it in.
Now you're all done & it should've only taken a few minutes. Your mixture will last for a couple of weeks before you need to make a new batch and you'll have kissable, smooth lips!
There are a lot of other DIY lip scrub recipes out there to try, let me know if you'd like me to share more at some point.
