Back in August of 2012 my husband & late father-in-law made me a custom nail polish rack. My nail polish collection was slowly growing & I was running out of space. It was all jumbled in drawers & I never knew what I had because they were all hidden. I considered buying one or two of those plastic racks they sell online, but I knew I needed more space than one of those would hold & I wanted something for a specific space in my (at the time) makeup room.
I measured the space, came up with the dimensions & took my husband to the hardware store. They were the ones who brought my ideas to life! It was perfect at the time & still is now! It's moved location a couple of times, but I'll always hold onto it! Not only does it mean a lot to me but it's so useful and beautiful!
When it comes time to display my polishes, I arrange them alphabetically by brand & then by color. For example: AVON, China Glaze, O.P.I., Revlon & each individual brand is arranged by color using the ROYGBIV sequence from the rainbow. I like to put a little space between each brand and/or collection, but I have the option to put them all closer if I needed the space.
Projects like these are awesome because they're created with love! Sure, you can buy any and every thing online these days, but nothing beats a DIY created for you or made by yourself! It was one of the last projects we were able to do with my father-in-law so it's very sentimental to me in that aspect as well!
