What it is:
It's Wet N Wild's first gel formula that can be worn without a top coat or that has to be cured by a lamp.
What it does:
It has up to 2 weeks of lasting power & shine. No UV light is required to get these results. The nail color is 3-Free, meaning there is no formaldehyde, Toluene or Phthalates. It also removes like a normal polish, unlike traditional gel nails.
I picked up this particular product based off of some recommendations I got in the past... It was on my 'wishlist' for a couple months, but I finally got around to buying it and I'm glad I did! These are available in drugstores anywhere Wet N Wild is sold, I've seen prices range from $3-5, and there are always different sales at the drugstore, so keep that in mind as well. Wet N Wild sells them for $4.99 online. There are 24 colors available, as I mentioned above, but in stores I usually only see about 8-10 at a time. I've never been in a store that carries the entire line.
When I applied this nail color, I didn't exactly follow the rules... I did this based on feedback and personal experience. I had actually worn this color previously, but didn't have a 'wear test' in mind, so I never thought of taking pictures. I wore it both times completely overlooking the fact that it was supposed to be a '1 step' experience, so I applied a base coat & top coat like I normally do. One girl told me it wore just like any other polish, another said the shine would start to fade after a day or two, someone else told me that the polish would shrink after the initial application...
My solution for the shrinkage was to apply a top coat to hold it in place, it also helped my nails maintain the shiny finish. I do agree, it wears just like any other nail polish, but I really love the color & enjoyed the application. It has a brush that makes it apply so easily and evenly over your nail bed. My first application, I noticed that the formula was kind of watery; you do need to be mindful about how much is on your brush, because it can become a drippy mess! I'm not sure if all colors are created 100% equally, but I picked up a darker color so I could see if it would be the same experience. It took about 5 minutes to apply to both hands (I also have it on my feet, it lasts much longer down there) and dried fairly quickly. It was so opaque that I didn't have to fuss with multiple coats. It didn't start chipping until Day 3, but by Day 5 (as shown) it was noticeable. I considered wearing it the full 2 weeks, but that isn't realistic for me. If my polish is chipped, I'm going to remove it, move on and start over. Although the brand claims that it could last up to 2 weeks, I'm still not disappointed because it lasts longer and better than most other polishes I own. I am hard on my hands, so most polishes only last a couple days for me. No biggie!
I'll be purchasing more colors over time, I'll be waiting for a good sale, though! I don't think they last the full 2 weeks, I don't think I'd enjoy the experience as much without a base & top coat, but I did like it and I loved the color!
