Kylie Matte Liquid Lipstick & Lip Liner
What it is:
The #KylieLipKit is your secret weapon to create the perfect 'Kylie Lip.' Each Lip Kit comes with a Matte Liquid Lipstick and matching Lip Liner. This ultra-long wearing lip liner has a creamy texture that glides across the lips for a very easy and comfortable application. The Lip Liner sharpens easily in most standard sized sharpeners - just make sure your sharpener is not dull! The Liquid Matte Lipstick has high intensity pigment for an instant bold matte lip. The extremely long wearing lipstick contains moisturizing ingredients for a comfortable, emollient and silky feel that does not dry your lips out.
Line lips with lipliner and fill lips in with liquid lip color.
Kylie's Lip Kits are a pretty hot product at the moment. The website restocks almost weekly & they sell out within minutes. When the lipsticks originally came out the end of 2015, there were only 3 colors released: Candy K, Dolce K & True Brown K. Overtime there has been 5 more colors released, as well as 3 lip glosses that launched last week!
I got '22' basically by accident. There was a local girl who happened to be sent the wrong color so she wanted to get it off of her hands, I gladly took it because it was a color I was pretty interested in & I'd never been able to get any when they'd restock due to the high demand. Everything about it was legit, so I was never worried about it, but I don't suggest buying these lip kits anywhere online other than Kylie's website (eBay, Instagram, etc.) or from anyone you don't trust. Kylie stresses that they're going to constantly restock, so try to be patient so you don't get ripped off!
I actually love the fact that the lip kits come with lip liners. I don't normally wear liner with my liquid lipsticks, but I do with these & I love that the colors are exact matches, and it really helps you get the most flawless application! The liners are very creamy in texture and glide on the lips so nice. I've heard a lot of people say it's so soft that their tip breaks off, but I haven't experienced that with any of mine. They also sharpen just fine. To get the cleanest line, make sure you have a pretty sharp point because once it becomes dull, it can get a little messy. Each kit is $29 and a liquid lipstick is typically about $20 so you figure you're paying about $9 for the liners, which isn't bad considering the formulation and quality of the product. I think down the line they'll eventually sell them separately but I like that they come together.
The liquid lipsticks are exactly as they're described, matte & extremely long wearing! I can wear these all day long and they stay put pretty well. Of course, depending on what you eat, the oils will slowly break down your application, but they can actually be touched up without feeling flaky or heavy. The nice thing about these lipsticks is they are very pigmented, so you can use what's on your brush without ever having to dip it back to get more. The lipsticks all have a very bakery like scent and are all equally pigmented. Once the product is on & dry, the smell dissipates though, so if that happens to be off-putting to you, keep that in mind. I really enjoy the fact that the lipsticks dry fairly quickly, which is a plus, and they're not sticky at all. They cover so well without feeling heavy or dry. I love how light it feels on my lips. The formula has a very smooth texture and goes on like butter! I never get a bad application... I actually heard they'll be changing the applicator, making it a little larger in the future to aid with application, but I don't currently have any issues with it at the moment? Because the formula is so long wearing, it can be tricky to remove the product, depending on what you're trying to use. I use my 'DIY: Cinnamon Toast Lip Scrub' I talked about last week, the coconut oil breaks it down nicely and I am able to exfoliate my lips immediately after removal so they're ready for a moisturizing lip product to stay smooth and soft.
A lot of people compared these to ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks, which I ordered for exactly this reason, to do my own comparison, and although the packaging is very similar, even their lippie pencils, I don't feel like they're exactly the same. For one, ColourPop doesn't have the same scent, in fact they don't have one at all, they're also a fraction of the price ($6) and I feel like it's not quite as long wearing, but they're still great lipsticks. I feel like they're a great alternative if you want to save a few bucks or you don't want to support Kylie Jenner's movement, but they're not exact dupes in my opinion based on formulation or colors, although some colors are very similar.
Kylie's shipping rate is $8.95 flat fee for domestic, all states within the USA & $14.95 flat fee for all international countries. They do ship worldwide. After processing, which is estimated to take 3-5 days, you'll receive a tracking number via USPS. Once your package is shipped out, they say it'll take 3-6 days in the United States & 10-15 days internationally. You get your package delivered in a cute, sturdy box with foam lining, a 'ersonalized' card from Kylie & each kit comes in a nice box that contains both your lipstick & liner. Although her shipping pricing is a little higher than what I'm used to normally paying, considering it's not priority or expedited shipping, you do get cute packaging, which I can appreciate just as much as a great product. That's just part of being a beauty junkie... I would like to mention that there are no refunds or exchanges when you purchase. All sales are final!
Do I think this product is worth it?
Yes, I do. I honestly haven't heard many negative reviews on the product? The biggest complaint I've heard personally is about supporting the 'Kardashian/Jenner' family & honestly, I don't have an issue with it.
I think it's a solid product and I do plan on extending my collection in the near future. I am not in a huge hurry, as I'm still fully enjoying the colors I already have, but I think they're worth their price. They sell out in minutes for a reason. The product has proven itself to be worth it!
My only complaint would be the processing & shipping time frame. It took one full week for me to receive my package, and for others it's taken longer, so I wish they'd speed it up, but at the same time I understand they're very high in demand and these people are probably working their tails off! So I'll live... We just live in a world were we expect instant gratification.
I'm very excited to see what else the future holds for Kylie Cosmetics. I think she's creating a product she's proud of, because I feel like it's of quality & I don't mind supporting her or any other woman or man that puts out great makeup! Definitely check her site out, it's done quite a bit of revamping over the past couple of months & she's slowly introducing new products! I think she'll be around for awhile & I'd love to see her line eventually extend to other stores.
Do you own any Kylie Cosmetics or will you be purchasing soon?
